Why do the weekends have to go so quickly!?
Even if we don’t have busy plans, it seems like our weekends are always completely full–trying to soak up every wonderful second of this season. Can’t we all just move to Southern California where it’s always nice and live happily ever after? Anyway… we had another wonderful weekend here in good ol’ Lincoln filled with girls night, the farmers market, family bbq, and a ridiculously long walk. About that…
We live in an awesome location. I LOVE being close enough to walk to things like the park or the local diner or Dairy Queen. We haven’t ever seen Sunken Gardens when it’s in full bloom and we live kind of close so we made the decision on a whim to walk there Saturday night. It was fun. And the girls did a pretty good job. But it was definitely longer than a quick “20 minute tops”. We map-quested the distance once we got home and it was a little under 5 miles. Needless to say my legs were hurtin’ a little the next day. It was still really fun and I’m glad we did it. The weather was beautiful and we got some quality family time in. (Dare I say we MAY even try it again?)
We first stopped at the fountain across the street…and it was filled with bubbles. Is that normal? Did someone seriously squirt dish soap in a fountain? Penny was fascinated and it smelled delicious, but we were kind of confused.
The garden is just breathtaking. It was a very still night with the perfect summer breeze making the ponds look like glass. We watched the fish under the lily pads for quite a while. Penny would point, gasp, and yell “feesh!”
The night wouldn’t be complete without both girls having a meltdown and Truman and I literally speed-walking the entire 2.4 miles home so I could feed June. We live life on the edge. And we laugh while doing it. I adore this family of mine.
Cheers to a short weekend! Jord.
